Fun in Friesland (and Drenthe)

Last weekend I visited two new Dutch provinces I'd never been to before! Now I've only got four to go and then I've nailed all twelve of them! Woop!

We were Appelscha ostensibly to check out Shambok playing the Suñ Festival but decided to spend the night up there and check out what Frisians have to offer (aside from cows and horses).

We were there with a friend who happens to be quite adept at making seriously wicked videos despite a lack of good looking protagonists or acting talent. Thanks for editing embarrassing end-of-evening staggering scenes out Peter!

Now we have serious camera envy. Next stop, Media Markt.

Stuff Dutch people like that they probably shouldn't...

You know when you've had a seriously massive night and all you wanna do in the morning is drink a shit ton of orange juice and eat some kind of egg and bacon derivative?

Well, they do shit different in Holland. They eat herring...raw.

 Yes. Raw.

Yes.

With a hangover.

Raw.

The Rum Diaries Part XLIV

The problem with working again is that suddenly we feel like it's ok to splash money around on crap we really don't need.

Like a bottle of Venezuelan Diplomatico Reserva 8 Años...

While it is easy enough to justify a $6 bottle of rum in Central America, it's a bit of a stretch to rationalize spending €25 on rum in Holland. Luckily we are very good at rationalizing otherwise questionable choices...not to mention the rum was SERIOUSLY AMAZING.

This one is right up there in the top five I reckon- in fact, it might even crack the top three. Smooth, amber goodness. Yum.

And for anyone who thinks that all this rum can't be good for us....here's a little something I learnt recently at a museum (ok, it was the Jenever Museum in Schiedam but it still counts as an educational facility):

"A little alcohol makes the spirit sparkle"
